Average Penis Size and the Possibility of Male impotence

Too much time seems to be spent everyday discussing male penis size and the average male penis size. Unmistakably important is this fact that due to popular misconceptions there truly is a great deal of misinformation about male penis size. As with many body parts, there are variations between penis size from one man to another. However, when all is said and done, there truly is a male penis size.

Results from studies taken together since the 1960's that are tabulated and averaged together reveal that the male penis size is 6.16 inches. (This is the average length of an erect penis.) However, this compilation of male penis size actually includes some studies that were a bit suspect in their technique. In other words, there is some belief that this broad averaging across a number of studies that resulted in the male penis size of 6.16 inches may not be particularly accurate.

More recent male penile have been made. For example, a fairly recent study conducted at the University of California at San Francisco concluded that male penis size on average is between 4.9 and 5.1 inches, a full inch less than what previous combined studies had suggested. (This is the average length of an erect penis.)

Other recent studies appear to support the conclusions by the University of California at San Francisco. For example, a Brazilian study concluded that the average length of male penis size when erect is 5.7 inches.

Some people have contended that there is a relationship between male penis size and Male Impotence. Many people have dismissed the concept of such a connection as an old wife's tale. (Perhaps an old husband's tale.) In reality, there are two instances when male penis size does appear to have some correlation to male impotence. However, these are not considered to be widespread causes of male impotence.

First, when talking about male penis size and male impotence, those men who believe they have an inadequate penis oftentimes find they having difficulties performing sexually in some instances. In other words, they have an emotionally or psychologically induced male impotence condition.

Second, there are men whose male penis size is so large that they have a difficulty retaining an erection for any significant period of time. In addition, some significantly larger penises do not become fully erect due in part to the size. This tends to be a function of biological factors.

A person who has concerns about male impotence for any reason, he should contact his doctor as soon as possible. Treatments for male impotence are most effective when intervention is sought early on.
